Typically when partnering with a MSP, that organization will offer you a roadmap; this might be a one, three, or five year plan depending on your needs. This roadmap will have certain IT issues that may come up over time written into it, whether they be small issues or larger ones. That way there are no surprise expenses. With an individual IT employee, this luxury isn’t there. For instance you may at some point need to replace an entire server, which is a huge expense for your company. With a MSP, your roadmap will have a solution for this built into it. This is going to eliminate a lot of stress, headaches, and budget stretching on your part. All while saving you from the downtime that prevents you from running your business effectively, efficiently, and productively.
Creative People provides IT support for a tax law firm. The client needed IT support; Creative People helped them update their hardware, and they have been helping the client with their website. Additionally, they work with the client’s video conferencing system, access control system, and their legal CRM. The client has been satisfied with the company’s work, and wants to continue working with them.

Exigent Technologies was initially hired by a law firm as a security consultant, before moving on to also take on IT managed services. Exigent Technologies takes care of hardware and software renewals, handles firewalls and antivirus tools, and manages desktop rollouts, even as it also vetted a document management system and implemented a remote access system. As a result, the client has been able to stay ahead of hackers and phishing scams seeking to grab the client's privileged information.
The evolution of MSP started in the 1990s with the emergence of application service providers (ASPs) who helped pave the way for remote support for IT infrastructure. From the initial focus of remote monitoring and management of servers and networks, the scope of an MSP's services expanded to include mobile device management, managed security, remote firewall administration and security-as-a-service, and managed print services. Around 2005, Karl W. Palachuk, Amy Luby (Founder of Managed Service Provider Services Network acquired by High Street Technology Ventures), and Erick Simpson (Managed Services Provider University) were the first advocates and the pioneers of the managed services business model.[16][17]

CWPS did cloud migration for a farmland conservation organization. The client needed a new IT partner, and wanted to move everything to the cloud. CWPS and the client worked together to determine a plan and objectives, and CWPS made them a fully cloud-based company. Since working with the company, the client has been able to work efficiently, and train staff members.

Thank you for shining a light on this systemic vulnerability. I don't think organizations realize that, in many ways, they inherit the security of their service providers. As another commenter noted, the RMM is overdue for radical reinvention. Security-minded MSPs may need to think about delegated access to customer environments, privileged access workstations, or other methods for remotely administering customer environments without that big fat one-to-many target that RMM represents. I think the MSP tooling ecosystem is general is problematic - MSPs design for scale and efficiency (making them an economical option for customers as opposed to hiring internally), but do I really want my password manager integrated into my RMM? Maybe not... There's a lot of market share out there waiting for MSPs that can develop real cybersecurity maturity.

Another benefit to managed IT services is a greater opportunity for security expertise and successfully enacted security policies. MSPs work with standards such as PCI compliance day in, day out, and should be able to steer your organization within the parameters and regulations it needs to adhere to. For some organizations, especially in finance, healthcare, educations, and other industries, this type of regulatory compliance is mandatory for the IT portion of their business, and requires the expertise and experience that a managed service provider can offer. MSPs can mitigate risk in this way while assuring that the experts in charge of your IT operations are always up to date on the latest information, technologies and processes that will keep your infrastructure working efficiently and successfully into the future.

Stratosphere Networks develops and implements B2B IT solutions, both on-premise as well as on hosted solutions, while retaining IT infrastructure at all levels. They have a robust and scalable cybersecurity framework that empowers in-house IT to monitor and manage response and remediation to incidents. Their core solutions include SIEM, managed detection and response, SOC services, virtual CSOs, and other managed security services, along with HIPAA and industry regulation compliance

What’s included in these services depends on you and your business. It’s more like a customized service to fit your needs. You may have certain IT needs already spoken for by an in-house employee, but need the larger issues to be taken care of by a MSP. Alternatively, you may have no options in-house for your IT responsibilities, in which case they can take over everything for you. It’s the peace of mind that MSPs provide that is so valuable to a business owner.

The IT industry is a dynamic one characterized by frequent upgrades and enhancements. Innovations and solutions are invented daily which makes it very difficult for businesses to keep the pace of each innovation. The selection and adoption of new solutions may also prove costly for organizations. To stay on top of the latest technological developments that can improve your daily business operations, you must consult the best in the business.

BairesDev provided development staff augmentation for a travel technology firm. The client's platform is used by several Fortune 500 companies, and they needed competent and affordable development assistance. The client noted that the programmers assigned to their projects were consistently skilled and a good cultural fit for their in-house teams and lauded their dedication, for example, when their CEO visited the client's New Orleans offices, despite having more prominent clients.

This act of lowering your IT expenses for your business operations allows you to conserve your capital because you are taking advantage of a model that is subscription-based. The subscription-based model allows your business to pay only for the services you need on an annual or monthly basis, giving you more control over your IT budget. This gives you the freedom to scale back if business gets tough or ramp up if you have a big project or new IT component that needs to be implemented straight away.
KDG was hired by a liberal arts college to redo the client's website using WordPress and create a mobile site. KDG supplied the client with full design, development, and hosting services, even as it continues to monitor and maintain both websites. KDG's work awarded its client a B+/A by the National Research Center for College & University Admissions, and the website would have earned higher marks but for budgetary constraints.
The first books on the topic of managed services: Service Agreements for SMB Consultants: A Quick-Start Guide to Managed Services[18] and The Guide to a Successful Managed Services Practice[19] were published in 2006 by Palachuk and Simpson, respectively. Since then, the managed services business model has gained ground among enterprise-level companies. As the value-added reseller (VAR) community evolved to a higher level of services, it adapted the managed service model and tailored it to SMB companies.

Managed services providers (MSPs) deliver a wide array of IT and cloud computing services on a contract or subscription basis. Today’s top managed service provides typically work though the cloud, managing hardware and software and operations. A managed IT services provider (MSP) is most often information technology (IT) services provider that manages and assumes responsibility for providing a defined set of services to its clients either proactively or as the MSP (not the client) determines that services are needed.[26][27] Most MSPs bill an upfront setup or transition fee and an ongoing flat or near-fixed monthly fee, which benefits clients by providing them with predictable IT support costs. Sometimes, MSPs act as facilitators who manage and procure staffing services on behalf of the client. In such context, they use an online application called vendor management system (VMS) for transparency and efficiency. A managed service provider is also useful in creating disaster recovery plans, similar to a corporation's. Managed Service Providers tend to prove most useful to small businesses with a limited IT budget.[28]

As organizations move into Mode 2 and Mode 3, they’re equipped to benefit from more advanced capabilities, including cloud native services, IoT, robotics, deep learning, cognitive computing and neural networks. HCL’s approach span several domains, including IT operations, application delivery, business processes, security and Everything-as-a-Service (XaaS).
Similar to a data breach, downtime can do more harm to your company’s reputation and trust with the public than you may think. Consider the possible scenario of being hit by a DDoS attack that leaves your network down worldwide at 2 am local time. If you’re operating on a skeleton crew of in-house employees, it may take 24 hours to get your network up and running again whereas an MSP could have you back in action well before the lunch bell rings.
Remote IT service providers can save you on IT costs such as licensing, training, as well as emergency repairs, which all add up in the short and long term. In essence, when you hire an MSP, you know that they have already made the investments in IT infrastructure, meaning that they assume all of the risks, so you don’t have to. This allows your in-house IT team costs to be more predictable.

The right managed IT services for small business can help your company rest easy knowing that you have a professional team of experts to rely on for anything IT-related. If you ever find that your IT team isn’t as efficient as you would like them to be or you’re stuck having to lay off some of your IT team to make ends meet, it might be time to look into a managed IT service provider (MSP).
At NexusTek, we are a managed IT service provider who specializes in meeting the IT needs of small and medium-sized businesses. As with other necessary business functions like utilities, the end user pays for services provided offsite, such as remote monitoring and management, help desk solutions, backup and disaster recovery, and more. Managed IT services thus become essential operating expenses to maintain core functionality, rather than additional expenses applied during exceptional issue resolutions with break/fix models. MSPs enable their end users to run their businesses more smoothly and more efficiently than they would otherwise. Additionally, they offer SaaS-based solutions at a price that can’t be achieved with in-house options.
